BOOK BLURB

‘If you love me, I’m yours…’

Maud didn’t mind being boring, not really. She had a sensible job, clothes, and love life… if you counted an overbearing ex who had thanked her, rolled over and was snoring before she even realised he’d begun!

She could tolerate not fulfilling her dreams, if her parents would pay her one compliment about the only thing she was passionate about in life: her art.

Dot should have fit in with her flamboyant and slightly eccentric family of talented artists, but somehow, she was an anomaly who couldn’t paint. She tried hard to be part of their world by becoming an art agent extraordinaire, but she dreamed of finding her own voice.

Dot’s brother Nate, a smoulderingly sexy and famous artist, was adored by everyone. His creative talent left them in awe of his ability to capture such passion on canvas. Women worshipped him, and even Dot’s friend Maud flushed and bumped into things when he walked into a room, but a tragic event in his past had left him emotionally and physically scarred, and reluctant to face the world again.

Someone was leaving exquisite little paintings on park benches, with a tag saying, ‘If you love me, I’m yours’. The art was so fresh and cutting-edge, that it generated a media frenzy and a scramble to discover where the mystery artist could be hiding. The revelation of who the prodigious artist was interlinked Maud, Dot and Nate’s lives forever, but their worlds came crashing down.

Were bonds of friendship, love and loyalty strong enough to withstand fame, success and scandal?

MY INTERVIEW WITH LIZZIE

Welcome to my blog, Lizzie It’s lovely to have you here and I and my readers are eager to find out more about you and your books.

PLEASE CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF BY TELLING US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR LIFE:

Thank you for inviting me onto your fabulous blog, Mary! I am a mum of two and I also have a very unusual dog who collects stones and makes little hills out of them beside the furniture, which I often trip over. It’s a good job she’s so cute!

I started work as a graphic designer and created my own retail and wholesale businesses, selling products I designed. I ran this business for over twenty years. I was voted one of Fair Play London and The Patent Office’s female Inventors of the year at one point in my career and I was lucky enough to win awards for my business and then be able to mentor others, which I still do through my networking hour on Twitter, #CreativeBizHour. I started writing my first book when I was in my late thirties and published it when I was over forty. I believe in chasing your dreams and when you catch them, creating new ones.

WHAT GENRE DO YOU WRITE UNDER?

I write romantic comedies, although one of my books is a romantic suspense. It is still littered with humour though.

WHICH OF YOUR BOOKS IS YOUR FAVOURITE AND WHY?

I love all of my books, but my first book, Babe Driven, holds a special place in my heart. It helped me though a really tough time in my life and I’ll always be grateful. My daughter has severe allergies and for nine years, she coughed and coughed, had antibiotics far too often for a couple of years and spent a lot of time with doctors trying to work out what was wrong. We were told she had chronic asthma. Years later she had an allergic reaction abroad and the hospital did more intensive allergy tests. We found out she has contact allergies and is allergic to so many things! To help keep myself awake at night (and sane!) I decided to write a book full of the sunshine and laughter that I didn’t have in my life at that time. I then hid the book in the cupboard for five years until her health began to improve.

IF THAT BOOK WAS TO BECOME A FILM, WHO WOULD YOU CAST IN THE LEADING ROLES?

I’d cast Emma Watson in the main female lead and Zac Efron as the male lead. The thought of my books being made into films is so exciting, but I guess it only happens to a tiny percentage of authors. A girl can still dream!

WHICH CHARACTERS FROM ANY OF YOUR BOOKS WOULD YOU INVITE TO A DINNER PARTY AND WHY? AND WHAT MODERN-DAY FOOD WOULD YOU SERVE THEM?

I’d love to have Skye, the lead character in Ninja School Mum, to dinner. She’s really obsessive about things and would probably move everything though! I’d serve her spaghetti Bolognese as that’s about all she knows how to cook.

I’d also love to chat to David Love, the main character in Love’s child. He’s had a tough upbringing but wants to make the world a better place for his child. He’s smart and gorgeous! I’d serve him simple food, but it would have to be healthy as he’s an ex-boxer and super fit.

HAVE YOU A FAVOURITE AUTHOR WHO HAS INFLUENCED YOUR OWN STYLE OF WRITING?

I love books by Liz Fielding (who I have been lucky enough to meet), Freya North, Lisa Jewell, Sophie Kinsella and so many other romance writers.

HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE YOU PUBLISHED TO DATE, AND WILL YOU LIST THEM FOR US AND WHERE WE CAN BUY THEM, PLEASE?

I have published five books so far.

Available on Amazon:

Babe Driven

Love’s Child

Finding Gina

Ninja School Mum

AND FINALLY, WHAT IS IN THE PIPE-LINE? NEW BOOKS? EVENTS?

I have two new manuscripts. One is ready and I am working on the final draft of the latest one. Both are romantic comedies. It’s such an amazing feeling to hold a completed manuscript in my hand.

THANK YOU, LIZZIE. I LOVED YOUR BOOK AND IT IS LOVELY TO HAVE YOU AS MY GUEST TODAY. MY REVIEW FOLLOWS

MY REVIEW

THE PERFECT HOLIDAY READ

For me, IF YOU LOVE ME I AM YOURS Is one book you should not leave at home when packing for your holiday. I took it on mine, and wiled away some lovely 'me' time engrossed in it as I relaxed in the sun.

This is a romantic comedy with a story that doesn't just rely on getting the laughs but has a gripping core that keeps you turning the pages.

Yes, there are many times which make you laugh out loud and that aspect adds to the enjoyment of the unravelling of Maud's life - her hurt at her parent's attitude to the person she wants to be, and how she strives for their approval.

Her friendships - woven as all friendships are, with deep loyalty, the feeling that someone has got your back, and that wonderful asset of having people who love and who understand you. And yes, troublesome times when halo's slip and forgiveness is the only way forward. Dot is one of these. To describe her I wouldn't know where to start, but this except of just one of Lizzie's wonderfully crafted and funny descriptions gives you an insight into Dot:

'Dot wanted to stamp her feet then throw herself on the floor in a tantrum, but her shoes had towering heels with fake sharks' teeth protruding from every angle and she was worried she could do herself some serious damage, so she tried to grab her emotions and squelch them back down again before they erupted in fury.'

And Daisy - Explicit about her sexual activity and bossy in a good way - she it is who sets Maud off on the path her life should take.

And we become entangled in Maud's love life - no easy, falling in love and blissful journey for Maud. Her innocence is appealing, and yet, a barrier and leads her to trust the wrong people. You so want her to find happiness and to stick up for herself - does she? I highly recommend that you read IF YOU LOVE ME I'M YOURS - the journey to find out, is funny, witty, moving and gives you an entertaining read.

My rating - A brilliant read and well worthy of five stars.
